In this Figurative Painting, "Waves," an original oil on panel, I wanted to paint the hand of Venus stirring the surface of the water as if it were the heavens themselves, a play on the mythology of Venus of the Sea and the idea that calm water is masculine and the opposite is feminine. The mythology suggests that a man's life is calm and boring without the, perhaps, dangerously interesting influence of woman. | |
