In this Interdisciplinary Stillife Painting, "Brother vs. Brother," an original oil on canvas, I was interested in creating a painting about slavery. My Creole French Grandmother gave me the slave document and a sword cane during a visit. I always wanted to include them in a still life as subject matter along with other relevant items from the period. The books are fictitious, except for the Holy Bible. This was the first painting that I was able to arrange with a picture within a picture as well as legible document. Go to Details of this Painting
